Can’t sleep at night – sometimes?
October 6, 2010
It’s a normal phenomenom in high achievers that sometimes we can’t sleep at night if we have something important on the next day, something on our mind that needs action or uncompleted business. It is better to get up, write down what is on your mind , take some action or read for a while.
Dr Viktor Frankel in his book “Mans search for meaning” writes about Paradoxical Intention.
This is where you do the opposite of what you want and usually you get what you want. For example you tell your self you are not going to go to sleep and you try your hardest to stay awake. This is negotiating with yourself, Guess what happens – you fall asleep. Try it, it works.
