Haggling – hot topic BBC website

Two interviews with the BBC this week. One for their website where we went haggling and researching in Shepherds Bush. A Manager of a charity shop puts the price up when she is confronted with Middle eastern bargainers. The expensive shops in the new Westfield shopping centre denied they ever drop their prices however the glint in their eyes made me think that if you were a serious buyer they would.

BBC Radio Humberside interviewed me on live radio and quizzed me whether people really could get discounts. Peter Levy wasn’t so sure whether even a brave Radio host could do it.
There are always discounts to be had – and I recommended that the listeners used soft language such as “Is there anything you can do for me on the price” – ” Surely you can reduce it bit for me” – “My partner will have a go at me if I pay that much”
Go out and try it this weekend. If you don’t get a discount what have you lost – just a little self pride and what does that cost?
