Negotiation advice for Speakers

Negotiating Tips

I was privileged to be one of six experts at the professional speaking convention panel on Saturday. Here are some of the answers to the questions that were posed> Of course they don’t just apply to speakers they apply to anyone who Negotiates and that includes YOU

1 – Always prepare your best position, target position, walkaway position and alternative position before you go into a negotiation. BP,TP,WAP,AP.
2 – Once you have asked your quality questions – and listened carefully to the answers, you might choose to change your positions which must remain dynamic and flexible.
3 – You can always bring your price down, BUT you can rarely put it up once you have quoted it, without losing integrity.
4 – If you don’t ask you don’t get.
5 – Listening is an anagram of silent. You can’t listen if you are talking or thinking.
