Negotiating change
November 16, 2010
One of my Inner Circle clients wrote to me this week about people moaning at his company about change and a strategic review that is about to take place – here is my reply.
“Change is one constant thing in life – and the one thing that negative people fear. In fact it is quite normal to fear change – it’s a defensive animal mechanism. I do not like getting older – can’t do much about it – can either feel sorry for myself or move forward.
Frankly from what you have told me your company cannot go on for much longer the way it is….. as the profitability is not great and the owners will want an exit at some point.
Remember the dinosuars didn’t change but the mice adapted to the conditions and that was 10m years ago. Embrace and support change – it will happen anyway. It will feel uncomfortable as you negotiate your way through it.
Winners welcome change as it is natural – losers moan and whinge
The NLP convention was amazing on Saturday – particularly two of the master trainers. They continue to discover more about the brain. At some stage I feel you should do some NLP as I know you would be a great trainer and coach of the psychology.
Mood is effected by a number of things but you can control most of it yourself with your self talk and exercise. Dull damp dark foggy days in November
effects everybody’s mood. But just imagine how fab it is above the clouds.”
